MODULE 1
ARTFUL PROMPT CRAFTING
This 60-minute one-on-one tutorial will help you define your own prompting method for generative AI models like Midjourney and ChatGPT.
In this session, we’ll focus on finding your “inner creative director”. If you already have that skill set, we’ll hone your thinking into a razar sharp prompt-writing craft. I'll share insights from over 20 years as an award-winning copywriter— a skill essential for effective prompt engineering. I’ll also open up the vaults on the specific artistic and critical thinking methods that helped me become sort of a generative AI-whisperer. Those methods may help you open up clearer, more effective communication with AI models. Because I handle AI with a critical POV, we’ll always stay close to an ethical and humanistic approach. Together, we’ll aim to integrate these aspects into your process to develop your own, and a firm view on both its capabilities and limitations.
About Sum & AI: I’m a decorated artist, activist and creative director with a unique perspective on AI. I started training discovery algorithms for major music streamers for a number of years, having no idea I was gaining AI expertise while I was doing it. Later, I also aligned with community organizers to fight against harmful AI in predictive policing. Somewhere in there I helped launch the entertainment industry’s first social media AI stunt, with Donald Glover’s hit series, Atlanta. Recently I have helped to develop an AI x arts educational prototype for Virginia Tech & Howard University. I also serve as the Los Angeles Chapter Advisor for the AI 2030 think tank, focusing on ethical AI frameworks.
My philosophy is driven by humanity’s total liberation, and decolonizing technology. My approach to AI is shaped by my life as an artist, my career as an entertainment marketing professional, my work as a community organizer and many years of intense study of nature and natural laws.
